Grief is the price we pay to love

Breeders face more loss than people realize.

And the grief is real.

Join us to help find your path to peace.

  • If you’ve lost a puppy or been torn from sending puppies home, there’s no better place for you to get the support you are missing than from other breeders who understand the level and depth of loss we face.

  • We are helping breeders like you cope with and process the grief associated with puppy loss. Puppy loss grief goes unacknowledged and unsupported even among breeders and we want to change that.

  • Grief is real for breeders. We experience loss when we have a stillborn or a lost puppy. When we send puppies home and the house suddenly feels so empty. When a beloved dog dies. Or when we have to rehome an adult.

  • It tears us up and puts us on an emotional roller coaster. It affects our relationships, our sleep, our health.

  • As a society, we are grief illiterate, and we often find ourselves stuck with no one around to help us deal with all the emotions we are going through. We hear phrases like “Oh are you still upset about Maggie”? or “it was just a puppy, don’t you have a bunch of those?” To truly heal you need to first understand what you are going through.

It's not "just a dog"

Many years ago I was responsible for a huge holiday party at work. It was a beautiful, wonderful event, with big tents and flowing linens on a picturesque farm with glittering lights and amazing food and music. We had over 100 people attending.

The afternoon of the party, I called my boss and told him everything was set and the party would be great, but I wasn’t attending. My dearly loved pet was fighting cancer and he was due for a round of chemotherapy and I was spending the night in the hospital with him.

My boss was dumbfounded and couldn’t believe I wasn’t showing up for the party. He just couldn’t understand that Harley was more important to me than a party or even a job. It ended up being a point of contention for us for a while.

A few years later he got his first family dog ever. Before the dog was even fully grown, he came to me and said “I get it now. I would have done the same thing if it had been Beau.”

Years. It took years for him to get it. And most people don’t.

Our grief not only isn’t acknowledged, it’s often dismissed, looked down on, or even ridiculed.

You’re ready to stop the ache in your heart without having to spend $100,000 and 10 years in therapy

It’s hard to ask for help with breeder grief.

It’s not even that people don’t understand it, they don’t even know it exists or how deep it can cut.

The average family loses a dog once every 10 years on average. We see losses so much more frequently than that.

What if you were able to handle your grief better and sleep better at night so you can be more present for your dogs and your family?

  • It’s time to stop minimizing your loss and time to start understanding that grief is unique to each of us and your feelings count.

  • This workshop is for all of us who have suffered losses in our breeding program.

  • It will be a supportive environment where we can talk about how we feel, how it’s affecting us, and we will show you some practical ways to start your journey to healing.

Here's the deal with grief

  • Grief is more than just the loss.

  • It’s everything you feel, the days you have to put on a happy face and just slog through, and facing the minimization of pet loss by society.

  • Or even the complete lack of recognition of how much loss a breeder can face in a year, a month, a week.

Let us help you learn to use your own mind to help you turn that around

We help you acknowledge what you are feeling, give you tools to understand what grief is and how to face it, and also give you tools to help you sleep better

Overcoming grief takes time, understanding and self-work—grief is a journey and does not go away with the snap of a finger—but we will start the healing journey together and you’ll know you’re not alone

The grief that comes from breeding (and other losses in life) can be such a heavy burden - not feeling like you can share with others for fear of being judged can make it even worse. This class was an amazing, non-judgemental way to get some relief in the moment. We also learned techniques for future use and were invited to join supportive community. I woke up the next morning feeling lighter and more exited about getting on with life!

About our facilitator

Kenda Summers is a Clinical Hypnotherapist who specializes in pet loss and grief.

Kenda started specializing in pet grief when she lost her heart dog and she realized there was no one to turn to that truly understood her sadness and grief. She realized the problem went well beyond her personally and that we live in a grief illiterate society.

So she started working toward a solution. One of her first projects was a book, “Healing Solutions for Pet Loss,” that also became part of her own healing process. In this book she created a road map for those who are heartbroken, lost, feel alone, and full of sadness over the loss of a beloved pet. The focus of her practice soon followed.

Kenda is certified with

    National Guild of Hypnotists
    Society of Neuro-linguistic Programming
    Pet Loss Grief Specialist

When you leave this workshop our goal is for you to understand yourself and your grief better

  • You’ll realize your loss is important.

  • You’ll realize it’s ok to feel how you feel
